Greenwich Village Apartment
Our clients came to us with the goal of combining adjacent apartments in a prewar Greenwich Village cooperative. Our primary design objective was to create a family home that flowed seamlessly across the integrated spaces without any residual feel of their original separation. To achieve this objective, we removed walls on either side of a shared fireplace to create two circulation axes that thread the individual rooms into a beautiful ensemble. Original architectural features such as the small-paned windows and the carved stone fireplaces were combined with timeless modern millwork and fine materials, resulting in a rich interior space.
